PSIC for India (Scrap)
According to the Handbook of Procedures, Volume I, issued by India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and subsequent amendments, Public Notices, Notifications, and Circulars, pre-shipment inspection of metal scrap imported into India is mandatory.
Imports of metallic waste and scrap into India are permitted only on the condition that they do not contain hazardous or toxic substances, radioactive materials, weapons, ammunition, shells, cartridges, or any other form of explosives. A Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) is therefore required to verify compliance with these conditions.
