What is the CR mark?
The CR conformity mark indicates that a product or good has been assessed as conforming to the applicable Vietnamese National Technical Regulation (QCVN). For products included in mandatory regulatory lists, affixing the CR mark is a mandatory step that must be completed before placing the product on the market.
Note: The CR mark is not a standalone “certification”; it indicates that the product has completed the conformity assessment steps required by the applicable regulations. To affix the CR mark correctly, businesses need to identify:
The QCVN applicable to the product.
The appropriate conformity assessment method (certification or self-assessment).
The procedures for declaration of conformity with technical regulations.
The relevant sector-specific regulatory requirements.
When should businesses consider CR requirements?
The product falls within the scope of a QCVN or a local technical regulation currently in force.
The product is subject to certification of conformity with technical regulations, declaration of conformity with technical regulations, or quality inspection under sector-specific regulations.
The product is classified as medium or high risk and is subject to the corresponding regulatory measures.
The business manufactures products domestically or imports them for distribution on the Vietnamese market.
How should the CR mark be displayed?
Its shape and proportions must follow the prescribed design. It may be enlarged or reduced, provided that the proportions are maintained and the mark remains identifiable to the naked eye.
It must be displayed on the product, packaging, product label or technical documentation, depending on the regulations applicable to the product.
It must be placed in a visible, legible location, in a single uniform colour, and be easily identifiable.
For electronic labels, the CR mark must be displayed within the electronic label in accordance with the applicable regulations.
